Luise hat eine Freundin. Sie heißt Margot. Luise und Margot sind zusammen zur Schule gegangen. Sie kennen sich schon seit 64 Jahren. Margot wohnt auch in Blankenese. Die beiden Frauen treffen sich jeden Freitagnachmittag in einem Café an der Elbe. Dort ist zwischen 15 und 17 Uhr ein Tisch mit Blick auf den Fluss für sie reserviert.
Als Luise ankam, saß Margot schon am Tisch. Luise setzte sich.
„Wie geht es dir?“
„Danke, gut.“
„Und Frank?“
Frank ist Margots Ehemann. Er hat schon seit fast 10 Jahren Alzheimer Demenz und lebt seit zwei Jahren in einem Pflegeheim.
Margot seufzte. „Ich habe ihn gestern besucht. Er hatte einen schlechten Tag und hat mich nicht erkannt. Manchmal wünsche ich mir, dass Gott ihn endlich erlöst. Es wird ja nicht besser.“
Luise nahm Margots Hand. „Ich verstehe dich.“
„Wie geht es deiner Familie?“, fragte Margot.
„Allen geht es gut.“
„Auch Marlene? Hast du mal wieder von ihr gehört?“
Jetzt seufzte Luise. „Nein, immer noch nicht. Ich verstehe das nicht. Ich schicke ihr mindestens einmal pro Woche eine Email, aber sie antwortet nicht. Paula sagt, ich soll sie vergessen, aber Marlene ist doch auch meine Tochter.“
„Natürlich. Paula und Marlene haben sich schon als Kinder nicht verstanden. Daran kann ich mich gut erinnern.“
Luise seufzte noch einmal. „Manchmal denke ich, sie haben das Baby im Krankenhaus vertauscht. Marlene ist so ganz anders als ihre Geschwister.“
Margot lachte. „Nein, nein. Man sieht sofort, dass Marlene und Paula Schwestern sind.“
Auch Luise lachte. „Ich weiß“, meinte sie. „Möchtest du noch einen Kaffee?“
„Nein, danke. Lass uns einen Spaziergang an der Elbe machen. Das Wetter ist so schön heute“, antwortete Margot.
„Das ist eine gute Idee.“ Luise winkte der Kellnerin. „Zahlen, bitte.“

Luise has a friend. Her name is Margot. Luise and Margot went to school together. They have already known each other for 64 years. Margot also lives in Blankenese. The two women meet every Friday afternoon in a café on the Elbe. Between 3 and 5 pm, a table with a view of the river is reserved for them there.
When Luise arrived, Margot was already sitting at the table. Luise sat down.
“How are you?”
“Thank you, fine.”
“And Frank?”
Frank is Margot’s husband. He has had Alzheimer’s dementia for almost ten years and has been living in a care home for two years.
Margot sighed. “I visited him yesterday. He was having a bad day and didn’t recognize me. Sometimes, I wish God would finally take him. It’s not getting any better.”
Luise took Margot’s hand. “I understand you.”
“How is your family?” Margot asked.
“They’re all doing well.”
“Even Marlene? Have you heard from her again?”
Now Luise sighed. “No, still not. I don’t understand. I send her an email at least once a week, but she doesn’t reply. Paula says I should forget about her, but Marlene is my daughter, too.”
“Of course she is. Paula and Marlene didn’t get on as children. I remember that very well.”
Luise sighed again. “Sometimes, I think they switched the baby in hospital. Marlene is so different from her siblings.”
Margot laughed. “No, no. You can tell straight away that Marlene and Paula are sisters.”
Luise laughed, too. “I know,” she said. “Would you like another coffee?”
“No, thank you. Let’s go for a walk along the Elbe. The weather is so nice today,” Margot replied.
“That’s a good idea.” Luise waved to the waitress. “The bill, please.”

When a person is too old or too sick to stay at home, he or she can move to a care/nursing home. Parts of the costs are covered by the “Pflegeversicherung”. However, good care homes with sufficient staff are expensive, so you will have to pay privately, too.
